Experience high-quality, thoughtfully sourced coffee in NYC

I’m Shirley, a mother, a New Yorker, and the founder of Max&Zoe Coffee.
This business is named after my children, Max and Zoe—both born in New York City and the reason I wanted to build something meaningful.
As a mother, I dreamed of creating something they could grow up learning from and one day proudly call part of their story.
I was also born and raised near the coffee plantations of Guatemala, where coffee isn’t a trend—it’s a way of life. From a young age, I learned that great coffee takes patience, care, and respect for the land and the people who cultivate it.
Max&Zoe Coffee lives at the intersection of these two worlds:
the fast pace of New York City and the deep, intentional craft of Guatemalan coffee heritage.

Guatemalan specialty coffee is known for its clean body, balanced acidity, and layered flavor profiles. Depending on the region and process, it often reveals notes of chocolate, caramel, citrus, and subtle florals—shaped by altitude, volcanic soil, and generations of farming knowledge.

We believe in creating meaningful experiences that inspire New Yorkers through a refined cup of Specialty Coffee
Specialty coffee is more than a drink — it is a sensory experience. From the aroma of freshly ground beans to the complexity of flavors in each cup, every coffee tells a story shaped by origin, altitude, process, and roasting. Notes of fruit, chocolate, florals, or spices can emerge naturally, creating a unique tasting experience that invites you to slow down, explore, and appreciate the craftsmanship behind every harvest.
Our Single Origin coffees are carefully sourced from exceptional farms and producers, allowing every cup to reflect the unique character of its region, soil, climate, and harvest. Each lot is selected for its quality, traceability, and distinctive flavor profile, delivering a coffee experience that is authentic, transparent, and impossible to replicate. From vibrant fruit notes to rich chocolate undertones, every bag offers a direct connection to the people and places behind the coffee.
Specialty coffee is crafted for those who appreciate refined taste and the art of coffee evaluation. Through professional cupping methods, each coffee is carefully assessed for aroma, sweetness, acidity, body, balance, and flavor complexity. This meticulous process ensures that every cup delivers a clean, distinctive, and memorable tasting experience that reflects the true quality of the coffee.
Our Washed Process coffees highlight clarity, balance, and the true character of the bean. Carefully processed to remove the fruit before drying, these coffees deliver a clean cup with bright acidity, refined sweetness, and crisp flavor notes that showcase the unique terroir of each origin.

Our Honey Process coffees offer the perfect balance between clarity and sweetness. Dried with part of the coffee fruit left on the bean, this process creates a smooth, syrupy cup with layered sweetness, balanced acidity, and notes of honey, stone fruit, and caramel.
FINCA LA REFORMA, HUEHUETENANGO
Our Natural Process coffees are fruit-forward, rich, and expressive. Dried with the coffee cherry intact, this traditional method creates a sweeter, fuller-bodied cup with vibrant notes of berries, tropical fruit, and chocolate, highlighting the bold personality of the origin.
